Top 5 Places To Visit In Your Motorhome

We’ve just been reminiscing about some of our favourite motorhome holidays in Europe and thought that we should share the locations so that you can grab some late summer sun. There are thousands of different locations that you can visit around Europe so we’ve put a lot of thought into our top 5!

Below you will find information on the chosen camp sites, the location, country, why you should visit and their open dates. easy

Camping La Riva (Lake Como, Italy) – This beautiful camp site is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, is home to some excellent walking and cycling opportunities  and lies on the north shore of the magnificent Lake Como. This site is purposely small to maintain a cool, calm and peaceful atmosphere.

  • Open dates – 1st April til 31st October.

Camping El Defin Verde (Costa Brava, Spain) – This active, vibrant campsite has access to everything you need whether it’s historical towns, sandy beaches, amazing mountain views or just relaxing by the pool! With Girona and Barcelona just around the corner this location is popular with both adults and children.

  • Open dates – 11th May til 22nd September.

Camp Solitudo (Dubrovnik, Croatia) Set in the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’ this campsite is in a location of outstanding natural beauty and is ideally set to visit the city of Dubrovnik, nearby islands and some very chic local coastal towns. If however you prefer to relax then you’ll find the sandy Copacabana beach only 200 meters around the corner!

Camping La Vieille Ferme (Cannes, France) – This site is owned and run by a small family insuring a welcoming, calm and relaxing atmosphere. Based in the south of France this site is surrounded by a 100 hectare park as well as being less than a mile from a beach. The aqua and marine parks are great for children and don’t worry the swimming pool is heated in the winter months, in case you go a bit later in the year!

  • Open dates – Open all year round

Orbitur Guincho (Lisbon, Portugal) – Based near the beautiful coastline of Estoril you will always have something to keep you busy at Orbitur Guincho! Based only 20 miles from Lisbon and local to a huge amount of attractions, restaurants and day trips this is a great location for a motorhome holiday. If you prefer to relax then the recently renovated restaurant and bar (with adjacent pool) should keep you satisfied.

Please remember before going on any holiday abroad that you have the following covered:

  • Motorhome insurance which you can get from Comfort  Insurance.
  • The appropriate currency (will mainly be the Euro but do your homework).
  • Your motorhome has the required legal equipment & accessories (including headlights, number plates etc).
  • First aid kits.
  • Insurance documentation.
  • Reading the rules and regulations of each different country you visit, it varies!
  • A detailed route planner.
